Living in Central Otago, New Zealand, Max Marriott manages vineyards and makes a little bit of Riesling on the side. He completed a degree in viticulture and oenology at Lincoln University in 2007 and left with a crazy bent for all things soil. He has a special affinity for artisan winegrowing and a strong interest in geology and organics. His wine experience to date has included vintage with Tamar Ridge and Rosevears Estate in Tasmania, with extensive domestic work for the likes of Felton Road and Neudorf Vineyards. He writes periodically for Faifax Media in New Zealand, along with Wine Technology, NZ Grape Grower and past contributions for Campbell Mattinson’s Wine Front in Australia.
