David Paterson, a Kiwi who calls Vancouver home, has just finished the 2009 vintage as production winemaker for Tantalus in the Okanagan. With a bachelor of viticulture and oenology from Lincoln University, David now bases himself out of Vancouver while he lives the dream as a flying winemaker, supplemented with sommelier work for fine restaurants at home. An astute, highly intelligent and incredibly fast learner, David thrives on the challenges and responsibilities offered by commanding vintage roles; prior to Tantalus he worked vintage at Henschke, vintage in Burgundy and the 2007 vintage with the highly specialised and prestigious pinot noir producers of Oregon, Archery Summit. David continues to leverage off his NZ experience with such wineries as Camshorn, Giesen and Neudorf Vineyards, with plans to manage his own winemaking operation before long.
